St. John Bosco Educational Philosophy

Huron Valley Catholic School follows the St. John Bosco Educational Philosophy, a method inspired by the love of God and focused on building loving relationships with others.  The practice of St. John Bosco’s system is based on I Corinthians 13:4-7, “Love is patient and kind…love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

St. John Bosco was a Roman Catholic priest living and working in Italy during the nineteenth century.  He felt called to serve the youth living on the streets, and he dedicated his life to their well-being and education.  He developed an educational philosophy based on love, trust, and relationship building, instead of punishment and judgement.  At Huron Valley Catholic School, we strive to meet the ideals that St. John Bosco set forth:

  • Our community members seek to love and serve Christ in one another
  • Our school community works together to foster a family spirit of mutual respect, love and understanding
  • Our teachers build relationships with students in order to better reach their minds
  • Our staff and teachers demonstrate kindness, assistance, and encouragement
